Why Setia Advisory
What you gain from an advisory relationship conducted on clear terms
The value of advisory work is not always immediately visible — it lives in decisions avoided as much as decisions made, and in the quality of the reasoning behind each commitment.
Back to HomeCore Advantages
Six things our clients consistently value
No agenda beyond accuracy
We hold no financial position in your decisions. We are not arranging financing, selling software, or representing a third party. Our only commercial interest is in being useful enough that you recommend us.
- No cross-selling of products or platforms
- No referral fees from third-party providers
- Conflict of interest disclosed before engagement begins
Written, evidence-based deliverables
Every engagement produces a written document. The evidence is placed alongside the conclusion it supports. You can share it, dispute it, and act on it at your own pace — without us in the room.
- Briefs under 30 pages by design — not padded
- Evidence and reasoning shown together, not separated
- No slide deck that ages out of relevance
Fees agreed before work begins
The fee for each engagement is stated and agreed before any work begins. There are no variable charges, no scope-creep invoices, and no ambiguity about what you are receiving and what it costs.
- Three fixed-price engagements from MYR 480
- Scope changes require written agreement and new fee
- No monthly retainer with unclear deliverables
Senior advisory throughout
The person you speak with at the outset is the person conducting the work. There is no handoff to a junior associate after the initial meeting — the principal remains engaged from first session to final brief.
- Principal-led from conversation to delivery
- No substitution of personnel mid-engagement
- Direct access throughout the engagement period
Malaysian market grounding
Advisory recommendations that do not account for the operating realities of Malaysia are, at best, incomplete. We understand how businesses here are structured, financed, regulated, and related to their supply chains.
- 14 years of engagement across Peninsular Malaysia
- Familiarity with SME financing structures and SSM norms
- Work with family firms, partnerships, and incorporated entities
Confidentiality in practice
Information shared in an engagement stays within that engagement. We do not use a client's situation to inform another client's work, and we do not discuss cases — even anonymised — without explicit permission.
- Mutual confidentiality understanding for every engagement
- Client documents remain client property
- No case studies without written consent
In More Detail
Each advantage examined more carefully
Depth of professional experience
Advisory work is only as useful as the judgment behind it. Our principals bring between eleven and fourteen years of direct, commercial experience working with Malaysian businesses — not theoretical knowledge drawn from case studies or framework libraries. The situations we encounter in an engagement are familiar to us from prior experience, which means the time you spend with us is spent examining your particular circumstances rather than educating a junior team about your industry.
Industry breadth
Manufacturing, trading, professional services, family business succession, and market entry across Peninsular Malaysia.
Commercial specificity
Familiarity with SME financing, SSM compliance norms, Malaysian employment law, and relationship-based supplier networks.
Practical deliverables
Every recommendation is set against the commercial context and resource constraints of the specific firm, not against an ideal-world scenario.
Value relative to cost
An Operational Diagnostic at MYR 480 identifies where margin or momentum is being lost. A Strategic Direction Review at MYR 1,850 equips leadership with a clear written account of their options before a major commitment. These fees represent a small fraction of the cost of a poorly-made decision — and the deliverables persist beyond the engagement, available for future reference as the situation evolves.
Operational Diagnostic Brief
MYR 480 — two weeks, written brief identifying operational pressure points.
Quarterly Advisory Companion
MYR 970 per quarter — ongoing structured access to senior advisory.
Strategic Direction Review
MYR 1,850 — four to six weeks, complete written brief with options laid out.
The quality of the working relationship
A good advisory relationship is a particular kind of conversation — candid, unhurried, and free of the hierarchical dynamics that can distort how a situation is described within an organisation. We work to create the conditions where a managing director can say what they actually think about a problem, without managing the room at the same time. That kind of exchange is where useful work happens.
Accessible throughout
During a Quarterly Advisory engagement, informal telephone availability means questions can be raised before they become decisions.
Responsive communication
We respond to enquiries within two working days. During an active engagement, same-day response to urgent questions is standard.
How We Compare

What Sets Us Apart
Four things that are genuinely distinctive
The thirty-page constraint
Our written briefs do not exceed thirty pages by design. The constraint forces a choice about what matters. A brief that cannot be read in one sitting and held in working memory is a brief that will not be used — and an unused brief is not an advisory deliverable.
Capacity deliberately held limited
We take on a small number of engagements at any given time. This is not scarcity positioning — it is a practical commitment to quality. An advisory firm that spreads thin produces thin work. We are not interested in that trade.
Plain initial conversation
Before any engagement is agreed, there is a brief, obligation-free telephone call. We ask what the situation is, we say whether we think we can be useful, and if not, we say why and occasionally suggest who might be. We do not convert every enquiry into a client.
Willingness to give an uncomfortable finding
Advisory work that only confirms what the client already suspects is not worth what it costs. If the operating data points in a different direction from management's assumptions, we say so — with the evidence visible alongside the finding.

See whether an engagement is the right fit for your situation
The initial call is brief and carries no obligation. We ask a few questions, you share what you are facing, and we tell you plainly whether we think we can help.
